Kawamoto retrospective makes its way through the UK

More Jasper Sharp news today. Folks in the UK can catch Jasper’s “Demons, Poets and Priests” retrospective of film works by puppet master Kihachiro Kawamoto as it continues its tour of the UK with stops at the Sheffield Showroom this Friday, the 25th and The Barbican in London on May 3rd.

As part of “Demons, Poets and Priests” Jasper held a panel discussion with three of the top stop-motion animators in Britian: Peter Lord, Barry Purves and David Borthwick. Click on the link below to listen to an audio recording of the discussion.

Also in Kawamoto news, this week Kino International will be releasing not only his hour long 2006 film “Book of the Dead” in North America, but also a disk of his short film titled, “The Exquisite Short Films of Kihachiro Kawamoto”. I got to see “Book of the Dead” this weekend and was mightily impressed. Keep an eye out for the Pow-Wow review at the end of this week.
