Artist Takashi Murakami named amongst 100 most influential

Continuing with posting stories that fans of Japanese cinema and culture may find interesting I saw that contemporary artist Takashi Murakami has been named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of 2008.

Murakami’s name may not be familiar, but his cartoonish, pop art images are. Famous for synthesizing high art with manga and otaku culture to create his own “Superflat” style he has exhibited his work around the world and has famously collaborated with rapper Kanye West and with fashion house Louis Vuitton.

Check out the report at Anime News Network who’ve posted a link to the article written by Louis Vuitton’s Marc Jacobs: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-05-02/takashi-murakami-named-among-time-100-influential
