The Japan Society brings The Best of Tora-san to New York City

Even though 2008, the 40th anniversary of the Tora-san series, is drawing to a close the tributes to Japan's favorite traveling salesman don't seem to be slowing down. The Japan Society New York will be hosting "The Best of Tora-san" a series of monthly screening of 8 of the 48 film series starting that will run between October and May 2009. These 8 films have been hand picked by Tora-san helmer Yoji Yamada as being his favorites of the longest running film series in film history. Yamada will also be participating in a live satellite Q&A following the screening of the first film in the series, 1969's "Otoko wa tsuraiyo" on October 17th.
