Help Evokative Films help those suffering in Haiti

by Chris MaGee

With all the Japanese film mania that goes on here at the Pow-Wow blog it's easy to lose sight of what's going on in the rest of the world at times. Thanks to Stephanie Trepanier, the owner and "Evoker-and-Chief" of Montreal-based distributor Evokative Films, to give us a bit of perspective during these dark days following the ongoing tragedy taking place in Haiti following the 7.0 Mw earthquake that hit the island nation last Tuesday. It's estimated that 200,000 people were killed in the quake, hundreds of thousands more are homeless and the social infrastructure the the capital of Port-au-Prince is teetering on absolute chaos.

Of course donations are being collected by the usual organizations like the Red Cross, etc., but Stephanie has set up her own initiative to get help to those suffering in Haiti. Until Thursday, January 21st at midnight a percentage of proceeds from purchases made through Evokative's webstore will go toward the relief efforts in Haiti being undertaken by Doctors Without Borders. Here's how it works - You’ll have two options:

1- Get a 20% discount on a 1-DVD purchase with the discount code HAITI (so you save $5,80) and Evokative will donate $6 to Doctors Without Borders. You save money and you help.

2- Buy the DVD at full price and Evokative will donate $12 to Doctors Without Borders. You help more.

Add to that that you’ll get props on Evokative's Facebook page for contributing, and two of the participants will get an Evokative T-shirt with their order. Great deal and it goes to a very important cause. So if you were thinking of getting that DVD copy of Sion Sono's "Hazard" or Satoshi Miki's "Adrift in Tokyo" do it now!
