Toronto is known worldwide as being a city with a truly vibrant film culture and I'm proud to say that it's one that has an absolutely vibrant Asian film culture. From TIFF programmer Colin Geddes' Kung Fu Fridays, to the Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival, to The Shinsedai Cinema Festival fans of Asian film are lucky to call Toronto home. One major stop on any Japanese film fan's yearly Toronto festival circuit is the Toronto Japanese Short Film Festival, and it's with great excitement that the 7th offering of the fest have just announced this year's full line-up.
Visitors will once again be treated to a smorgasbord of short films from Japan, including Kunio Kato's Oscar-winning "La Maison en Petits Cubes", the lovable "Komaneko: The Curious Cat", TJSFF regular Takashi Taniguchi and his film "Mitsuko’s Freedom", Sebastien Godard's "Sea and Life: A Tale of Urashima Taro" (above), plus the Toronto Premiere of selections form the Olympic animated spoof omnibus "Tokyo Onlypic 2008". Of course there's more than that, but to check all the films that will be screening at Innis Town Hall Theatre on the University of Toronto campus between March 18th to 21st then you should head over to the Toronto Japanese Short Film Festival's official website here right away!
