Back in June we reported on how directors Isshin Inudo and Shinji Higuchi were going to tag team helming the upcoming jidai-geki epic "Nobou no Shiro". Based on a novel by Ryo Wada the film will chronicle the battle waged by Narita Nagachika, a medieval samurai lord who lived during Japan's Sengoku, or Warring States Period, to defend Oshi Castle in Saitama Prefecture from the onslaught of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and his troops. Inudo and Higuchi have assembled an all-star cast that includes Mansai Nomura (above left), best known for his role in both of Yojiro Takita's "Onmyoji" films, as Mansai Nomura Koichi Sato, Tomomitsu Yamaguchi, Hiroki Narimiya and 22-year-old Nana Eikura (above).
Now Nippon Cinema has gotten their hands on a 15-second commercial for "Nobou no Shiro" and it looks like Inudo and Higuchi are following Takashi Miike's "13 Assassins" lead and will be delivering a gritty, action-packed period drama. To get a peek at what appears to be a very impressive battle sequence head over to Nippon Cinema here. "Nobou no Shiro" is set to hit Japanese theatres next year.
