Camera Japan Festival announces dates for its annual tour of the Netherlands

by Chris MaGee

Since 2006 the Camera Japan Festival has been touring the best in Japanese film around the Netherlands. This week the organizers of the annual fest announced their venues and dates for their 2011 offering. The festival will kick off in Rotterdam at LantarenVenster on September 22nd until September 25th. The fest will move on to Amsterdam between September 30th to October 2nd at the Kriterion Theatre, as well as at the Melkweg Theatre between September 29th and October 5th for retrospective screenings.

The theme of this year's festival (as seen in their 2011 logo above) is "Made in Japan?" That question mark is crucial as the choice of films will reflect where Japanese film ends and international film begins. Besides this theme Camera Japan will also be organizing a special project dubbed After the Quake. The organizers of the fest are asking people to share their own forms of expression about the March 11th earthquake and tsunami that devastated areas of Japan's Tohoku region.

The line-up and additional venues for the Camera Japan Festival 2011 will be posted on the fest's official website in the coming days and weeks. make sure to keep checking back there, or here at the J-Film Pow-Wow, to see which films will be hitting the Netherlands this fall.
