While it hasn't been a stellar year for Japanese films at the world's film festivals, with only Kiyoshi Kurosawa's "Tokyo Sonata" winning major accolades by receiving the Special Un Certain Regard Jury Prize at Cannes, it hasn't stopped them from continuing to try. News comes from Anime News Network via Tokyograph that Mamoru Oshii's "The Sky Crawlers" and Takashi Miike's "Crows Zero" will both be competing at this year's Sitges International Film Festival. Here's wishing both films luck, but I have to wonder... Hasn't "Crows Zero" been kicking around the festival circuit for a good while now? And it's still trying for awards? Well, again... Good luck.
