We had reported back at the end of July that "Death Note" screenwriter Tetsuya Oishi was going to be penning a big screen adaptation of Koji Matsumoto's manga "Higanjima". Now word has popped up at Twitch about casting for the horror adventure.
Singer, actor, and all around Japanese media "tarento" Koji Yamamoto (above) has been cast to play Akira, a young man who's searching for his brother on an island ruled by vampires. Dai Watanabe, who previously starred in Takashi Miike's "Crows Zero" has also been cast... as Akira's brother? As a vampire? The report wasn't specific, but my money goes with Akira's lost brother.
"Higanjima" is set to start shooting next month with Korean director Kim Tae-Gyun behind the camera.
