Brake- Gitan Otsuru (2009)
Based on the novel by Yusuke Yamada, Gitan Otsuru brings us the story of a car mechanic who finds himself in the middle of a deadly game in "Brake". Strapped into a car with only a brake our hero must barrel down 20 kilometres of road without using the brakes because each time he does a woman is injected with poison. Part car chase, part "Saw"-like toture porn, and all high concept "Brake" will hit Japanese theatres on September 5th.
Izu Dancer - Katsumi Nishikawa (1963)
Based on the book by Nobel Prize-winner Yasunari Kawabata "Izu Dancer" tells the story of an upper class young man who goes on a sight-seeing trip through Japan's Izu Peninsula. There he meets a young woman who works as a dancer in a troupe of traveling entertainers. Will he be able to overcome the class differences to explore his feelings for this girl?
