Get ready for a Pinksummer's Night Dream in California

by Chris MaGee

We recently reported on how Japanese pop culture experts Patrick Macias and Tomohiro Machiyama were going to be giving a talk about the history of pinku eiga and roman porno at San Francisco's New People Viz Cinema on June 11th. Now word has come down via The Japan Film Society that Californians will in fact be getting a double shot of lecture on Japanese sex cinema this month.

On June 25th Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, Californian (south of Pasedena) will be screening two pink films released in North America by our friends at Pink Eiga in an event they're calling "A Pinksummer Night's Dream". Not only will those attending get to see one of my personal favorite pink films, Daisuke Goto's "A Lonely Cow Weeps at Dawn" and Yukio Kitazawa's comedy/ sci-fi pink film "Deep Contact" (above), but they'll also be treated to a talk on the subject of these and other Japanese sex films by staff members from Pink Eiga.

To find out more details about this one-night only event head to Gallery Nucleus' official website here
