We rarely sink to the level of Best and Worst Dressed items here on the J-Film Pow-Wow, but when Takashi Miike turns up at an awards ceremony in a silver lamé tuxedo jacket we have to relax our standards a little bit. Miike (above left) walked the carpet in his stylish get-up to accept his trophy for Best Director for "13 Assassins" at 65th annual Mainichi Film Awards this Tuesday.
Regular readers of the J-Film Pow-Wow will know that the winners of this year's Mainichi Awards were announced last month, and that Miike's remake of Eiichi Kudo's 1963 chanbara classic also netted a Best-Supporting Actor award for Goro Inagaki, as well as Best Sound. "Assassins" didn't grab top honours though. Those were split between Sang-il Lee's "Villain" and Masahiro Kobayashi's "Haru's Journey".
No one else came to the red carpet with the kind of style that Miike did, but you can check out a full gallery of the winners, including Best Actress Shinobu Terajima (Caterpillar) (above right) and Best Actor (A Lone Scalpel), by heading to CinemaCafe.net here.
