Twitchfilm has got news on the latest film from director Katsuhito Ishii and it looks like a real about face for a filmmmaker known for crazy comedies like "The Taste of Tea" and "Funky Forest: The First Contact".
Set for release later this year "Yama no Anata" is apparently a remake of the 1938 Hiroshi Shimizu film "Anma to Onna" and tells the story of a blind masseur falling in love with a young woman. There were some truly lovely moments in amongst the zaniness in "Taste of Tea", so it will be really interesting to see if Ishii can sustain that mood for an entire film.
Tsuyoshi Kusanagi of SMAP fame stars as the blind masseur and Ryo Kase who Western audiences will know as Shimizu from Clint Eastwood's "Letters from Iwo Jima" also stars.
