Word from Tokyograph today that the voice cast for Hayao Miyasaki’s upcoming “Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea”. Heading up the cast are two 8-year-old newcomers: Hiroki Doi as Sosuke, the young boy who befriends a female goldfish named Ponyo who’s only wish is that she was human. Ponyo will be voiced by Yuria Nara.
Rounding out the cast are Tomoko Yamaguchi (Swallowtail Butterfly) and former pro baseball player Kazushige Nagashima as Sosuke’s parents while Ponyo’s goldfish parents will be voiced by Yuki Amami (Crying Out Love in the Center of the World) and tarento star George Tokoro. Japanese cinema veterans Kazuko Yoshiyuki (Kikujiro) and Tomoko Naraoka (Koge, Dodes'ka-den) will apparently play two elderly women at Sosuke’s mother’s workplace.
