by Chris MaGeeI have to say that Studio Ghibli has done a remarkable job keeping the theatrical trailer for Hayao Miyasaki's latest film "Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea" off the internet since its release in Japanese theatres back in April making it the holy grail for us Japanese film bloggers. Well, Todd Brown at Twitch has scored that Holy Grail today, although it remains to be seen for how long.
So, what id my opinion on the first look at Miyazaki-san's story of a fish girl who wants to be a human girl? Pure magic! The master hasn't lost his touch. The animation is again exquisite and for me brings to mind the blighted forest from “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind” which is no small praise. Of course I’d have liked the trailer even better if I didn’t have to see the heads of the folks from the TV panel show that this was taken, but beggars can’t be choosers.
