My friend and fellow blogger Cathy Munroe Hotes who runs Nishikata Film Review, a great online resource for info on experimental, art and underground Japanese animation, will be getting excited about this I’m sure. The 12th Annual Hiroshima International Animation Festival has announced their line-up of the best in animated films from around the world. Between August 7th and 11th the fest will have not only a retrospective of the works of mange/ anime master Osamu Tezuka, but also retrospectives of the films of Russian animator Alexander Tatarsky, Bulgarian animator Donyo Donev, a programme highling the animation of Finland and, very appropriately for Hiroshima, the programme “Animation for Peace”.
To check out the full line-up and learn about this truly fascinating festival head on over to their official site here.
