Leave it up to Kevin Ouellette over at Nippon Cinema to scoop the big news story of the day. He's posted an English subtitled trailer of Shinya Tsukamoto's sequel to his successful 2006 horror film "Nightmare Detective"! This time around Ryuhei Matsuda's character Kyoichi must come to the aid of a high school girl who is plagued by nightmares of the death of her classmates, so once again the reluctant Nightmare Detective must risk his life and enter into her dream world. It also seems like we'll be getting some of Kyoichi's back story with Miwako Ichikawa starring as his mother (?)
I have to say that I wasn't a huge fan of the first film that to me seemed like a bit of an artistic step back for Tsukamoto after the sublime "Vital", but watching this new "Nightmare Detective 2" trailer gives me the willies and in the end that's what a good horror film is supposed to do, right?
