Love is a real kick in the head in Izuru Narushima's "Love Fight"

by Chris MaGee

Here's another find from Kevin Ouellette over at Nippon Cinema that I think you fans of violence will love. Not brutal, bloody violence mind you, but romantic, heartfelt violence. Huh??? Read on...

"Love Fight", adapted from the novel “Seibo Shojo” by Eri Makino, tells the story of Minoru (Kento Hayashi), a teenager who has been continually bullied since he a boy. His good friend and tomboy, Aki (Kie Kitano) was always there to fight off the bullies, but now that Minoru is getting older he wants to start fighting his own battles, so he decides to start taking boxing lessons. Not to be out done Aki takes up boxing as well and along with hair growing in funny places the childhood friends start to realize that the opposite sex isn't so icky and they do what most kids due at that sensitive age: show their newfound fascination by kicking the crap out of each other.

Kevin's got the trailer for the film here, and it looks pretty hilarious. "Love Fight" directed by Izuru Narushima and written by Teruo Abe is set to be released in Japanese theatres on November 15th.
