Well, currently Hayao Miyazaki is taking some time off from his workaholic ways to promote his latest film "Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea" at the Venice International Film Festival (as seen above), but according to a story posted over at Anime News Network we may be seeing Miyazaki promoting "Ponyo" on these shores sometime next year.
We had originally reported at the beginning of June that Hollywood power producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy were coming aboard to oversee the North American release of "Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea", but at that time there hadn't even been a tentative release date announced, but now there is. "Ponyo" will be seeing a release dubbed in English in 2009.
I'm assuming that this will be similar to the short week long run that we saw for "Howl's Moving Castle" in 2005, so all I can say is once "Ponyo" hits your local theatre (if it hits your local theatre) head on out and buy your ticket. We need to show support for releases like these.
