At the end of August we posted a single still from Minoru Kawasaki's upcoming live-action adaptation of Kenji Sonishi's four panel comic strip "Neko Rahmen" about a cat who runs his own ramen restaurant. With what looked like a stuffed animal being used for the titular culinary cat it had me and a lot of other people wondering what Kawasaki might have in store for us with this film. Well, remember that we're dealing with the man who brought us "The Calamari Wrestler" and Monster X Strikes Back: Attack the G8 Summit", so of course he's bringing us a Muppet movie. Okay, it's not a Muppet movie, that name is trademarked by the estate of Jim Henson or Disney or whoever has bought up the rights to Kermit and Miss Piggy, but it if the gallery of stills posted over at Cinema Today is any indication then Kawasaki is indeed taking the puppet route to bring Kenji Sonishi's zany comic to life.
Click here to check out a dozen more stills from "Neko Rahmen Taisho" or roughly translated "General Cat Noodle" set to be released in Japanese theatres next month.
