Word from Tokyograph this morning that Yoshino Kimura (Sukiyaki Western Django, Blindness) and Juri Ueno (Swing Girls) will be starring opposite each other in an upcoming comedy titled "Dead Heat Virgin Road." The film has the two actresses playing a very unlikely pairing: Kimura's character is a suicidal woman who can't seem to off herself while Ueno is a young bride planning her wedding ceremony. The two end up (somehow) in possession of a dead body that they pack into a suitcase and hit the road with. Well, it's not "Weekend at Bernie's", but almost...
The film will mark the directorial debut of actor Goro Kishitani who North American audiences may remember as the villain, Mizoguchi, in Takashi Yamazaki's 2002 action flick "Returner".
"Dead Heat Virgin Road" is set for a fall 2009 release.
