Sushi King goes to New York - Yukihiko Tsutsumi (2007)

Love "Iron Chef"? Then you'll love Yukihiko Tsutsumi's 2007 comedy "Sushi King goes to New York". The title really says it all: Kinki Kids member Koichi Dômoto stars as Tsukasa Maizu, a sushi chef extraordinaire who challenges the sushi chefs in the Big Apple to a cooking competition to end all cooking competitions. Even with all the high kicks and fighting in this trailer it still makes me hungry for some nice nigiri sushi.

Seven Samurai - Akira Kurosawa (1954)

What more can you say about Akira Kurosawa's "Seven Samurai" that has not already been said? The story of seven masterless samurai who are enlisted by the citizens of a small town threatened by bandits is not just the stuff of Japanese cinema legend, but of world cinema in general. The modern action film and western owe an enormous debt to this winner of the Silver Lion Award winner at the 1954 Venice International Film Festival; and the iconic performance by Toshiro Mifine as Kikuchiyo explodes with an energy that's rarely been rivaled since.
