With major Hollywood celebrities contributing nearly nude "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" ads to major magazines and fashion shows featuring fur-clad models routinely being protested by members of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) you'd think that actresses would steer clear of sporting a mink coat or a chinchilla wrap on the red carpet. Okay there's Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez, but Japanese actress Miki Mizuno (above right) has one-upped those divas.
The "Sasori" and "Carved: A Slit-Mouthed Woman" star was named along with Japanese boxer Masato (above left) as the annual spokespeople for The Fur Association of Japan. Both were gifted with ¥5 million (approx. $64,000 CDN) worth of fur coats and jackets, some of which they modeled for photographers at a ceremony held in Tokyo on Wednesday. "This is the fur of a lifetime that I've always wanted to have at some point," gushed Mizuno to reports... right before they sat down to a meal of dolphin and whale meat and a quick seal hunt (or maybe not).
Mizuno-san, watch out! I think that's a naked Pam Anderson with a bucket of red paint behind you!
Thanks to Variety Japan for the story and Oricon for the photo.
