Those fine folks at New York - Tokyo have scored another coup for New York film fans. First they brought us this year's New York - Tokyo Film Grand Prix and now they are premiering Mamoru Oshii's "The Sky Crawlers" at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center this coming Friday, and as a special treat the screenings will be preceded by a video introduction by Oshii himself.
If you live in the New York area you've got two chances, 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm on December 12th, to see the latest animated sci-fi epic by the director of "Ghost in the Shell". This time out he follows a group of seemingly immortal young men and women who fight in a fictional war. Why do they fight and who's behind it? You'll have to see "The Sky Crawlers" to find out.
Now, if you're living in Los Angeles you may have gotten a jump on your East Coast anime fans already. According to Anime News Network the Los Feliz 3 Cinemas in North L.A. has already been screening "The Sky Crawlers" since December 5th and will continue until this Thursday, December 11th.
