Takashi Miike and Sho Sakurai to attend New York premiere of "Yatterman"... really!

by Chris MaGee

Okay, if you're a regular reader of the J-Film Pow-Wow then you might have seen an announcement I posted on Monday about Takashi Miike attending the world premiere of his big screen anime adaptation "Yatterman" taking place at New York Comic Con on February 6th with the film's star Sho Sakurai in tow. The report was only up for a bit and then it was gone, but that was because, according to Marc Walkow of Outcast Cinema and Subway Cinema, bringing Miike and Sakurai to the U.S. for the event has been a bit of a logistical nightmare, so even at the 11th hour on Monday final details hadn't been confirmed. Thankfully that's all changed now and Miike and Sakurai's appearance at the world premiere of "Yatterman" is locked in.

Breath a sigh of relief, Miike fans! Not only will you get a chance to meet (and have an autograph signed by) your favorite director, but you'll be seeing "Yatterman" a full month before it's set to open in Japan on March 7th. For additional details on the 8:00 P.M. February 6th premiere at the New York Directors Guild Theater, 110 West 57th Street check out the official New York Comic Con website here.
