Early Review of Miyazaki's "Ponyo" Hits the Internet

by Marc Saint-Cyr

For fans of anime wizard Hiyao Miyazaki, the most anticipated film looming on the horizon is his latest adventure, "Ponyo on a Cliff by the Sea." In addition to the news posted a few days ago about six clips from the film (subtitled only in French) making their way to Youtube, those eagerly waiting for the film's North American release date (August 14th in selected theatres) can further sate their "Ponyo" appetites with a new review posted at Twitch.

On the whole, the review describes the film as yet another positive accomplishment for Miyazaki, with the director revisiting the simplicity of such earlier works of his as "My Neighbor Totoro." Not too much is given away regarding the plot, but for those who want to avoid detailed summaries about the film's style and tone may want to exercise some caution when following the link above. Overall, this is a strong and reassuring indication that "Ponyo" will be yet another success for the reigning master of Japanese animation.
