20th Century Boys: The Final Chapter - Yukihiko Tsutsumi (2009)

Yukihiko Tsutsumi finally wraps up the conspiracy theories, the giant robots, and the shadowy group who call themselves "Friends" in the upcoming final installment of Toho's big budget live-action adaption of Naoki Urasawa's manga "20th Century Boys". Titled "The Final Chapter" it's due to hit Japanese theatres on August 29th.




Akitsu Springs - Kiju (Yoshishige) Yoshida (1962)

Japanese New Wave giant Kiju Yoshida's 1962 film tells the tragic love story of a young student who escapes to a hot springs resort in Akitsu at the end of WW2. There he falls in love with one of the workers at the resort, a girl named Shinko. The couple's budding romance is rocked when they learn of Japan's surrender to the Allied Powers. "Akitsu Springs" marked the first collaboration between Yoshida and his soon to be wife, actress Mariko Okada.
