Hitoshi Iwamoto's manga adaptation "MW" gets a TV prequel in June

by Chris MaGee

Well, we're nearly on the eve of the July 4th Japanese theatrical release of Hitoshi Iwamoto's upcoming live-action adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's dark revenge manga "MW". Teaser images hit the web a long time back and earlier this month the full trailer was released, but now Tokyograph has word of a TV tie-in for the film starring Hiroshi Tamaki and Takayuki Yamada.

On June 30th at 9:00pm NTV will be airing a special prequel to "MW" Titled "MW Chapter 0: Akuma no Game". Also directed by Hitoshi Iwamoto it will center around a man named Morioka, played by Takeru Sato (above right), who after being laid off from his job is forced to "stain his hands in evil" after meeting Michio Yuuki (Hiroshi Tamaki, above left), a man with a diabolical plan to unleash a poison gas called "MW" on an unsuspecting populace.

"Stain his hands in evil", eh? I think that Oxy cleaning solution stuff they sell on TV info-mercials can get those stubborn evil stains out. For more info (in Japanese) of "MW Chapter 0: Akuma no Game" check out NTV's official pager for the special here.
