Outcast Cinema's Marc Walkow has been hinting at various upcoming DVD extra and production projects for a good few months now and when he posts pics of Ryo Ishibashi and Eihi Shiina sitting side by side what exact film do you think he's really trying to drive home? Not that's hard to come up with the answer, but Walkow's taken all the guessing out of this guessing game by spilling the beans over at his blog. That's right folks, come October you'll be able to pick up a 2-disc Special Collector's Edition of Takashi Miike's seminal psycho-horror masterpiece "Audition" and here's the jacket art (obviously care of Fangoria) to prove it.
Apparently this set was in the works over at BCI Eclipse before they sadly went out of business, but Cliff MacMillan, the acquisitions manager at BCI thankfully found a job at Shout! factory and he took this project with him.
So what can Miike fans expect on from this set? How about exclusive interviews and features with all the cast members including Ryo Ishibashi, Eihi Shiina, Renji Ishibashi, and Ren Osugi. I love the title of the feature on Osugi, "The Man in the Bag Speak: Ren Osugi"! on top of that there's a brand new commentary track with Miike and screenwriter (and son of Shohei Imamura) Daisuke Tengan.
After my recent bout with general ill health seeing Shiina in her classic pose, syringe in hand like some nurse from hell certainly gives me the willies... Probably does for most of you as well. Kiri, kiri, kiri... Yikes!
