Kumiko Aso turns call girl for "Seaside Motel"

by Chris MaGee

No, actress Kumiko Aso, star of Kaz Kiriya's "Casshern" and Satoshi Miki's "Instant Swamp", hasn't fallen on hard times and is turning tricks to pay the bills. She's paying the bills by playing a prostitute in an upcoming live-action adaptation of Yukio Okada's manga "Seaside Motel". Currently filming in Guam with first time feature director Kentarō Moriya at the helm "Seaside Motel" follows the denizens of a rundown motel as they cross paths between checking in and checking out. Aso's character Candy crosses paths with Kameda, a door-to-door salesman peddling cheap cosmetics (played by Tomu Ikuta) and the two end up falling in love. Another hooker with a heart of gold? We'll have to wait until 2010 to find out. That's when "Seaside Motel" is scheduled to open in Japanese theatres.
