Welcome to the Space Show - Koji Masunari (2010)
Fifth grade student Natsuki Oyama and four of her classmates embark on a journey from their sleepy rural village to galaxies far away in Koji Masunari's new film "Welcome to the Space Show". If you can look past the wonky English dubbing in this trailer you'll be rewarded with some truly breathtaking animation and characters that give Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" a run for their money.
Devotion - Barbara Hammer (2000)
In her 2000 film "Devotion" veteran experimental filmmaker Barbara Hammer explores the world and working methods of Shinsuke Ogawa (1935-1992), one of Japan' most respected documentary filmmakers. The director of such classics as 1968's "Summer in Narita" and "Magino Village: A Tale" believed in working and living communally with his crew, and Hammer speaks with Ogawa's friends, family, and colleagues about his groundbreaking career.
