by Chris MaGeeI know for a fact that there are more than a few "Tetsuo" fans out there amongst the regular J-Film Pow-Wow readers. So many of us made our way to Japanese films through Shinya Tsukamoto's 1989 indie cyberpunk classic "Tetsuo the Iron Man" and/ or its sequel, 1992's "Tetsuo II: The Body Hammer", that we try and jump on any news about Tsukamoto's metallic morphing creation that pops up online. Well, today Cinema Today.jp delivered a piece of news that both fans of Tsukamoto and fans of manga will be very excited about. The saga of Tetsuo will be continuing not onscreen (at least for now), but in the pages of Monthly Comic Beam magazine in a serialized manga. This new comic has been drawn by manga artist and former Tsukamoto special effects technician Akira Fukaya and it will expand upon the Tetsuo mythos already established in the films. To make sure Fukaya gets everything just right his work on the new "Tetsuo" manga has been supervised by Shinya Tsukamoto himself. Check out the promo image of Tetsuo as a manga character above.
There aren't many more details on this new serialized manga at this point, but it's safe to say that the web will be flooded with details shortly. We'll get any new information about Fukuya's manga to you as soon as we can.
