It was back in June that we reported on the upcoming big screen biopic "GeGeGe no Nyobo". The film stars actor/ screenwriter/ director Kankuro Kudo as master manga artist Shigeru Mizuki and Kazue Fukiishi as his wife of nearly five decades Nunoe Mura, and shouldn't be confused with the recent NHK drama series of the same name. Directed by Takuji Suzuki the film follows the relationship between Mizuki and Mura and the creation of some of his best loved manga characters including yokai-boy GeGeGe no Kitaro.
"GeGeGe no Nyobo" already received its international premiere at this year's Pia Film Festival in Tokyo and now the folks at Phnatom Film are prepping it for a theatrical release in Japan on N November 11th. In advance of that Cinema Today has posted 4-minutes of footage from the film that features an animated sequence covering the genesis of Kitaro's father, the tiny Medama Oyaji (Eyeball Father). Make sure to check it out below.
