Studio 4°C to help bring French comic "Mutafukaz" to the big screen

by Chris MaGee

At the end of January we reported on how Studio 4°C, the people behind such mind-bending animated films as "Tekkon Kinkreet", "Mind Game" and "Genius Party", had been enlisted by the Cartoon Network to reboot the 1980's animated series "The Thundercats". Now comes word of Studio 4°C going into collaboration on yet another animated adaptation.

Anime News Network is reporting that Studio 4°C will be working with French comics publisher Ankama to bring one of their biggest comics to the screen in a 2D animated feature. "Mutafukaz" is a dystopian adventure penned and drawn by French comic artist Guillaume "Run" Renard . It follows the adventures of a young hoodlum named Angelina who has acquired supernatural abilities after nearly dying in a scooter accident. Angelina (who bares a remarkable resemblance to Marvin Martian, don't you think?) now fights crime in the fictitious American near-future metropolis of Dark Meat City.

This feature-length animated adaptation of "Mutafukaz" is budgeted at approximately $11 to $14 million, but no official release date has been announced yet.
