One of the biggest supporters of what we do here at the J-Film Pow-Wow is Toronto's Jason Gray. Gray, who writes for Screen International, works on English translations for Japanese screenplays and provides consultation work for productions in Tokyo (and who has now moved on to screenwriting and producing) has been a big help to all of us here at the blog since day one. That's why when we saw this news item posted at Jason's blog I knew we had to report on it.
Jason, who has lived in Tokyo now for a decade, is now branching out even further with an upcoming short film titled "Yukuharu - The Fading of Spring". Jason has penned the screenplay for the film, will be directing the short, and pre-production is set to begin at the end of March (just in time for the beginning of cherry blossom season). As he describes in his post "It's been quite some time since I shot anything narrative, but if not now then when?" The perfect attitude, we think. Expect more details on this project as they come out.

Chris,
You're being kind but I haven't done that much for your blog -- you and your crew have built something great from the ground up (Torontonian film geeks specialize at that).
I really appreciate you spreading the news, though. Hope to show you and everyone something later this year.
