We're already going to be enjoying a feast of Japanese films in Toronto with TIFF happening this month, but that isn't the only event that Torontonians should be marking in their calendars for September.
It was just announced this week that the Toronto branch of the Japan Foundation will be holding a free screening of Keiichi Hara's award-winning 2007 animated film "Summer Days with Coo" on Tuesday, September 20th at 6:30PM. What will make this event extra special is that the film's director, Keiichi Hara (above left), will be in attendance for a pre-screening talk and post-screening Q&A.
I was very honoured that the Japan Foundation staff asked me to moderate this event, and I'm sure that fans of anime and Japanese film will not want to miss the opportunity to meet Hara-san in person.
Again this is an entirely FREE screening and talk. All you have to do if you'd like to attend is to visit the Japan Foundation website here and scroll down to the bottom of the page and RSVP. Can't wait to see all of you there!
Thanks to Shochiku for the above promotional images.
