The 50+ set rocks out in Kudo Kankuro’s latest

Todd Brown and the good folks at Twitchfilm have got a ton of great Japanese cinema related stories today, so get over there and check them out! This one really sparked my interest though… Kudo Kankuro the writer behind such films as Go, Ping Pong, 69, Zebraman, AND Maiko Haaaan!!! as well as the director of utterly crazy Yaji and Kita: The Midnight Pilgrims is stepping behind the camera once again to bring us the musical comedy "Shonen Meriken Sakku."

The film will follow a record company scout (Aoi Miyazaki) who discovers a punk band made up of members who are all over 50. With The Sex Pistols continually dragging themselves out of mothballs this doesn’t sound so far fetched, does it?

The band will be made up of Koichi Sato (The Wow-Choten Hotel), Yuichi Kimura (The Matsugane Potshot Affair), Tomorowo Taguchi (It’s Only Talk), and Hiroki Miyake (Train Man).
