Takashi Miike brings us "Cell Phone Detectives"

Takashi Miike already screwed with our heads with his 2000 mini-series "MPD Psycho" and it looks like we're in for another head trip with a new series Miike will be overseeing. Titled ""Keitai sosakan (Cell Phone Detectives)" the 51 episodes will follow a teenager (Masataka Kubota)and a group of detectives who investigate digital crimes with the help of shape-shifting "Transformers-like" cell phones (?!?!?!)

Besides Miike contributing an episode to the series he will be the overall series director. Other names who will be contributing to the series will be Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell) and Shusuke Kaneko (Death Note).

The series is set to premiere on the TV Tokyo Network on April 2nd.

Let's hope that Miike's contribution doesn't rehash aspects of his finacially successful, but artistically bland "One Missed Call".
