Tokyo Tower: Mom and Me, and Sometimes Dad – Joji Matsuoka (2007)
Jô Odagiri stars as an art student and his gravely ill mother. Winner of the Best Film, Best Director and Best Screenplay awards at the 2008 Japanese Academy Awards.
Shall We Dance? – Masayuki Suo (1996)
Kôji Yakusho plays a burnt out salaryman who secretly takes up ballroom dancing. Winner of the Best Film at the 1997 Japanese Academy Awards as well as the prestigious Kinema Junpo Award for best picture that same year.
