Anime News Network has posted news that Toshio Li's "Detroit Metal City" big screen manga adaptation has got itself a very appropriate star playing a cameo. Yes the pic on the left is the one and only Gene Simmons of Kiss in costume as the "Demon God of Rock and Roll". Having never read the manga I can't say how ol' Gene will fit into the story of Sōichi, a down on his luck musician who finally finds fame and fortune fronting a heavy metal band, but I can't think of anyone else who'd better fit the part.
Apparently an upcoming episode of Gene's reality TV show "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" will feature behind the scenes footage of the "Detroit Metal City" film shoot. Now there's something to look forward to...
