Takeshi Kaneshiro seems to be making up for lost time. After a six year absence from Japanese films we have his return in Masaya Kakei's "Sweet Rain (Accuracy of Death)" to look forward to. Now word is out that he will be starring in the second screen outing of the Edogawa Rampo super-villain, Kaijin Niju Menso, or The Fiend with Twenty Faces. "K20:The Fiend with Twenty Faces" will not be based directly on Rampo's work, but instead on a novel by author So Kitamura "inspired" by Rampo's characters. Kaneshiro's Fiend will be pursued through a fictional 1949 Japan by Rampo's literary alter ego, Detective Kogoro Akechi (to be played by Toro Nakamura). The film will be released sometime in 2009.
Another Takeshi, Takeshi Kitano starred as Kaijin Niju Menso previously in the 2002 television movie titled "Akechi Kogoro vs. The Fiend with Twenty faces".
