Jasper Sharp and Tom Mes contribute to “Tokyolife”

Got word from Jasper Sharp today about a new coffee table book from Rizzoli titled “Tokyolife: Art and Design”. At almost 500 pages the book includes the work of Japanese architects, fashion designers, filmmakers and photographers and how it has influences culture not only in Japan but around the world.

The Midnight Eye contingent is well represented in “Tokyolife” with Tom Mes contributing the essay “Center Stage City: Tokyo in the Movies” about how Tokyo is represented in cinema and Jasper Sharp contributing “Futurescape” an exploration of how the changing face of Tokyo has been reflected in the world of anime.

This looks like essential reading for fans of Japanese cinema and Japanese culture at large.
