Just a heads up for fans of Satoshi Kon. The director of such instant anime classics as “Perfect Blue”, “Millennium Actress” and “Paprika” is currently in New York for "Satoshi Kon: Beyond Imagination" a retrospective of his work running at Lincoln Center from June 27th to July 1st, and blogger extraordinaire Grady Hendrix of Kaiju Shakedown has scored an interview with the director. In it Kon discusses how he doesn’t tire of animating the detailed depiction of real life settings that appear in his films, the evolution of his WOWOW animated series “Paranoia Agent” and the theme of “the other me” that runs through his work, parts of the characters “which has been alienated from the protagonist and matures while being shared by a lot of people in the story.”
Fascinating stuff, so head over to Kaiju Shakedown and give it a read through.
