Just a quick note for those of you interested in Japanese culture as well as film that The Japan Foundation are hosting an exhibition titled "Calligraphy Exhibition: Japan-Canada Cultural Exchange" which opened last Wednesday and will be running to August 22nd.
Appropriate to the fact that 2008 marks the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Canada and Japan the theme of the exhibit is friendship between our two countries. The works cover poems written by the late Prince Takamado who actually studied here in Canada at Queen's University, 11th century Chinese poems and haiku by contemporary Canadian poets.
All of the calligraphy in the exhibit is the work of Shiko Kataoka, one of the leading figures in modern Japanese calligraphy and the president and founder of the Keifukai Calligraphy Association in Takarazuka Japan.
Plus it's FREE! Click here for more details.
