Cast of Koji Yakusho's "Gama no Abura" revealed, film's official site goes live

by Chris MaGee

A small bit of news on the "Gama no Abura (Toad's Oil" front. At a press conference held on July 18th in a hospital in Chiba Prefecture first time director Koji Yakusho presented the cast of his debut film to the media. As we'd reported back in June "Gama no Abura" centers around a day trader and his relationship with his wife, injured son and his son’s lover.

Yakusho who plays the patriarch of the family was joined by Satoshi Kobayashi who plays Yakusho's wife, Eita and Junichi house-Taek who play his sons and Naikaido Humi who plays his young daughter.

Also, the official website for the film has recently gone live. Not much in the way of content yet except a photo from the press conference, but we'll keep our eye on further developments (hopefully a trailer!) in the near future.

"Gama no Abura" is set for a Spring 2009 release.

Thanks to Variety Japan for the story.
