First look at Hiroshi Tamaki and Takayuki Yamada in live-action adaptation of Osamu Tezuka's "MW"

by Chris MaGee

Back at the beginning of June we reported on how director Hitoshi Iwamoto was going to be adapting Osamu Tezuka's dark 1976 manga "MW" to the big screen. The manga told the story of a psychopathic young man named Michio Yuuki and a priest named Yutao Garai who are the only survivors of a catastrophic leak of a weaponized gas on a small island. Yuuki, already unbalanced before the leak, now seeks revenge not only on the military who developed the gas called "MW", but the whole world by unleashing an apocalyptic gas attack on the whole world.

While I was doing some surfing on a related Osamu Tezuka story I came across these pics at the Japanese language film site Cinema Cafe of Hiroshi Tamaki as Michio Yuuki and Takayuki Yamada as Father Yutao Garai. It also looks like the film's official website has gone live, but there's not much posted there yet.

I still say that this sounds like some pretty scary stuff in light that Japan is only 13 years away from the Aum Shinrikyo sarin gas attacks on the Tokyo subway system, but that's just me.
