Back in June we ran the story that "The Booth" and "Glory of Team Batista" director Yoshihiro Nakamura would be adapting the Kotaro Isaka novel "Fish Story" to the big screen. Following a washed up, one hit wonder punk rock star and the impact that his bands one big song had on the lives of fans and the world at large, "Fish Story" marks the second time in the past year that an Isaka work will be getting the feature film treatment. The Takeshi Kinashiro drama "Sweet Rain (Accuracy of Death)" that screened at this year's Fantasia Fest was also adapted from one of the author's novels.
Now, a bit of fishing (bad pun) online has yielded these series of pics shot in a Kabukicho club in June that feature Atsushi Ito (Battlefield Baseball, Boy's Choir) and his fellow on screen bandmates Kiyohiko Shibukawa, Takashi Makoto, Okouti Toshimitsu bashing through some tunes. Ito apparently had to brush up on his guitar playing skills for two months before he could get on stage as the band's leader.
You can check out a couple more shots at Variety Japan as well as surf over to the film's official website, although there's not much there yet. As soon as we can track down a trailer for "Fish Story" we'll have it here for you to take a look at.
