The anatomy of Godzilla (and others)

by Chris MaGee

Okay, I know that these anatomical illustrations of kaiju monsters have been kicking around for awhile. They actually come from a 1967/ 1997 book called "An Anatomical Guide to Monsters" by Shoji Otomo with illustrations by Shogo Endo and published by Asahi Sonorama, but Pink Tentacle has posted a wider sampling than I've yet to see online. They're taken from a Flickr photo set by a guy who calls himself "Modern Fred" and Ol' Fred doesn't just give us that cross-section illustration of Gamera that we've all seen. Nope, here we've got such obscure kaiju creatures as Jiger ("Gamera Vs. Monster X", 1970), Guiron ("Gamera vs. Devil Monster Guiron", 1969) and Anguirus ("Godzilla Raids Again", 1955)... oh, and of course the king of all monsters, Godzilla.

And here I thought that it was only a guy suffering from heat exhaustion inside that rubber suit. Who knew?
