The Toronto Reel Asian International Film Festival announced their 2008 line-up to the media and guests at a press conference at the Japan Foundation Toronto offices last night and it looks like another great year for East Asian film lovers in the city. 56 films from 12 different countries (Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, the Philippines, Vietnam, USA and Canada) will be screened at The Bloor Cinema, Innis Town Hall Theatre and the National Film Board Theatre between November 12th and November 16th.
The big news for Japanese film fans is that besides the aforementioned CinemAsia "Sabu Soirée" taking place on the eve of the fest on November 11 the Closing Night Gala will be the Toronto Premiere of Satoshi Miki's "Adrift in Tokyo" starring Jo Odagiri and Tomokazu Miura.
As we'd reported back in July new Montreal-based distributor Evokative Films has picked up the Canadian rights to "Adrift in Tokyo", so it's nice to see that they've made this really sweet film a part of this year's fest.
