As we'd reported back at the beginning of October "Go" and "Crying Out Love at the Center of the World" director Isao Yukisada's next film would be titled "Kondo wa aisaka (This Time a Devoted Husband)," and at the time I'd speculated if this would be the big screen version of Chihiro Itou's 2003 stage play of the same name. Well, according to a report posted today at Tokyograph that's exactly what "Kondo wa aisaka" is, but now we know who will be starring as the married couple trying to salvage their 10-year relationship.
Etsushi Toyokawa (The Sinking of Japan, Hula Girls) will play the husband, a creatively blocked photographer, and Hiroko Yakushimaru (Always: Sunset on Third Street, Bubble Fiction) will play his wife, a woman obsessed with her health. The film will follow them as they take a trip to Okinawa and try and conceive a child.
"Kondo wa aisaka" has already begun shooting with Asami Mizukawa, Gaku Hamada, and Renji Ishibashi rounding out the cast. Toei has slated the film for a fall 2009 release. Thanks to Yahoo Japan for the above image.
